SKYWALK devolps electric drive for paragliders

2The E-Walk is not exactly an electric paramotor but a motor integrated in a free flight harness, designed to power flatland launches and climbs to decent heights were thermals can be found. The machine is still being tested, but Skywalk plans to release it soon to the market.

1According to the German manufacturer of paragliders and accessories, the projected E-WALK 01/120 will bring a starting weight of 120 kg into the sky “without a problem”. The E-Walk makes possible to reach a ceiling of 450 - 700 m (depending on the start weight), thanks to the thrust vector adjustment and the prop setup, which has been worked out together with the manufacturer of propellers Helix.
“The E-WALK allows for a huge radius on the hunt for thermals, completely different from a wind-dependent wing! A guaranteed ride to cloud base, so to say... because the thermals let you successfully use every meter of climb. Once inside the thermal, the propeller is shut off, the propeller folds back and thanks to the balanced weight distribution (battery is in front of the pilot), the pilot is underway with glider like normal!”, say at Skywalk.
The project is supported by the German Federal Ministry of Economics.

"I have reached my goal and lived my dream – to be able to fly the Infinity Tumbling. The feeling of flying absolutely vertically over the paraglider many times is impossible to describe. Like all the other manoeuvres which I have learned in the past the thrill of success is enormously large - but somehow the Infinity Tumbling is the icing on my acro flying cake. Ten years ago on the beginner hill I never ever let myself imagine that I might one day be doing such a thing with my paraglider..." - Judith Zweifel, the world's number one female acro pilot tells about her impressions.

So the new website is finished, it's gunna make it heaps easier to update with news and info now. Hope ya like it.

A warm welcome to Nelson Paragliding. My name is Drew, this is my third season working with NP and I've just got back from a season flying in Interlaken, Switzerland. My first week back in NZ was spent in Taupo with Wayno and the boys attending the Taupo Uhooked, Taupo's first international aerobatcics competition. After a slow start everyone got into the rythm of towing over the lake and it turned out to be an awsum event. Dan Diggler from Queenstown took first place with an awsum display of skill including but by no means limited to the infinity manouvre over the water. Click here for more information on Taupo Unhooked.
So it's the start of another sunny season in Nelson, we already have bookings for students and it looks like this is going to be a bumper season. We look forward to seeing you all on Barnicoat!

Couldn't resist putting this up. Go Pal - Long live acro!
